Welcome to the Custom Computer tutorial!!
NOTE: The guide is being written, each week you can expect a few more articles added, It is scheduled to be complete by mid-June 2006. Thanks!
The menu on the right will guide you on your way to a Custom Computer. It will be there throughout the tutorial so you can skip ahead or go back and reread parts. Please note that all the information covered and components mentioned are not required. From the 'tools' page you will find a checklist link. This checklist provides you with the required components as well as the optional ones.
The links are organized from the top down. If you follow them in that order you should understand exactly what I'm talking about in each page. Also, each page has a link to the next item in the list so you don't have to keep track of where you are.
Overview
Please note that this guide is not a review site. I have not listed the fastest, the most quiet, the most efficient, the smallest parts of each type. That list would take forever to download and would need constant updating. What the guide is though is this: it explains every component used to make a computer. It explains how it works with the rest of the computer and its main function. When you finish the guide you should know each part of a computer and what it does.
The Guide Layout
Each part of the guide has a box at the top stating whether the component discussed is required or optional, the average price, links to get one, and several other things that might come in handy before you read the whole page. As always, if you have any questions I want you to Contact me! I'll be glad to answer questions and clarify points. At the end of each part of the guide there is a summary box which includes, in list form, all the major ideas and things to watch out for when buying the component.
The Gallery
When you complete your computer please send me the specs on it! Also, some picutes might be nice. I'm planning on adding a gallery of the computers people have created. It will have a picture of your computer and a list of the components it contains. Then you can show it off to your friends online! :) This is completely optional. But if you build a cool one with UV lights, Strobe LED's, Pop Holders, Back Scratchers, and gasoline backup power generator then I wanna see it!
Good Luck!
