Simple, Nice Looking, Cheap and Needed

This part is going to be short and sweet. Again, let's start with some good news: You may already have one of these! Check your case to see if any are included. Then, read the rest of this page anyway.

So, we need a fan for the case; any idea what they might be called? Right! Add a 'Case Fan' to the shopping list. They are easy to pick and install. The only thing you need to worry about is the physical dimensions of the fan, and the mounting capabilities of your case. Standard Case Fan size is 80mm. Most cases use this size, though you need to check your case.

You shouldn't need to put too many of these in your case. If you put too many fans in your case you can blow the side panels off your computer when you press the power button. This is caused by an increase of air pressure within the walls of the case. Hee Hee, ok, not really. Though, that does bring up a good point. If you wish, you can put a case fan mounted backward on your case, which forces air out of the case. This is perfectly fine and is called an exhaust fan. It may help keep it cool if you are having heat problems. Just something to remember.

But Case Fans aren't the only thing you have working on the heat! The processor you are going to put in your computer will have a fan, as well as the previously discussed PSU. Both these fans are usually enough to keep things cool if your computer is clean inside. Dust in the computer case cause increased heat.

My recommendation is to make sure you have at least 1 case fan. They come in all colors and some even have fancy lights.

Summary: If your case doesn't include a case fan be sure to pick up at least one. Make sure that the size of the mounting holes on the case match the size of the fan (80mm, 60mm, 120mm, etc)

Remember:
- Looks of the Case
- Power Supply in the Case
- Case Fan(s) in the Case
- ATX Standard Case
- Mounting Brackets (3.5" and 5.25")
